Lastest Update 26/07/17 Title: Relaxation Techniques From Zenergy Workshop
Exercise 1 - Tension - Release Exercise
- Put your arms out and make fists
- Make those fists and forearms increasingly tight for 10 seconds
- Relax and take 3 breaths
- Repeat x2
- Place hands on thighs with elbows bent
- Squeeze both arms into your sides, making it increasingly tighter for 10 seconds
- Relax and take 3 breaths
- Repeat x2
Exercise 2 - Diaphragmatic Breathing
- Place left hand on the centre of the chest
- Place right hand on the base of the abdomen
- Take 3 normal breaths and pay attention to which hand is rising and falling
- Now breathe normally for 2 minutes, with your chest remaining as still as possible and your abdomen rising and falling with each breath.
- This type of breathing will engage the diaphragm and encourage the mind and body to relax!
Exercise 3 - Basic Meditation Technique
- Sitting in a relaxed but upright position
- Bring hands in front of abdomen, Interlinking fingers and let thumbs touch each other
- Breathe naturally but encourage abdomen to rise and fall with your breathing (rather than your chest)
- Close your eyes, sit and breathe comfortably for 5 minutes
- Keep your mind focused on how your hands are feeling, i.e. you might feel warmth or the pulsations of your circulation.
- If you find yourself getting distracted with mental chatter, return your attention back to your hands.
